Cadillac is an American car brand. His name comes from the founder of Detroit, Michigan, in 1701, the adventurer Antoine Laumet alias Antoine de Lamothe-Cadillac. Being from Saint-Nicolas-de-la-Grave (Tarn-et-Garonne), the Cadillac he attaches to his name is probably the one in Fronton (Haute-Garonne).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cadillac would derive from a species called Catillus. In a Nordic reading grid, the radical Catil would correspond to Kaetill. When the toponym of a final \"s\", it gives Couadille (47), Catille (24, 40), Cathi\u00e9 (31), Cati\u00e9 (81), Catier (31).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this first map, we can clearly see the distribution of the castral mottes bearing the name of Kaetill. They are unsurprisingly found between Toulouse and Angoul\u00eame, the place where the Frankish pressure on Gascony was strongest. We also find them in Brittany where the men of the north formed a military march to protect the country from Frankish attacks. The southwest mottes must have been built in the years 840-850.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
